CMU’s Art and Design Department asked me to create a promotional booklet that represented all their programs, which got me thinking about what actually connects such different disciplines. I landed on the idea that every one of them creates a kind of metaphorical noise that disrupts the monotony of an average day. Whether visual, literal, or emotional, that disruption is the shared spark. The booklet simply captures the many ways art and design break the pattern on purpose.
